Wizard IV
Wandering Wiseman, Pax Consensio

A New Legendary Hidden Creation

Ancient lore tells of an old man, a wanderer who travels with his faithful gazehound.  His peregrinations take him far and wide, over mountains and in the forests.  He speaks the language of the rocks and the trees and the birds of the sky.  Still wandering and searching for the pure of heart, he gives his peaceful invocation.

Panthera Leo
Lion - Monarch of the Animal Kingdom

Legendary Hidden Creations Series

Revered for it’s strength and bravery, the lion has been a symbol of supremacy since recorded history.  The full grown male conveys a grandeur and self-assurance.  His magnificent mane is reminiscent of a king’s ceremonial headdress or an Indian chief’s war bonnet.  His roar, a low grumble building in intensity sends a vibrating signal throughout his domain and literally makes the earth quake.  All this and more makes the lion the undisputed king of beasts.

Equus Caballus
Horse, The Divine Gift

Legendary Hidden Creations Series

Man’s bond with the horse extends throughout the ages, through all cultures across the globe.  Without God’s equine gift to man, what civilization could have been built?  This new edition to the Legendary Hidden Creations series pays homage to this most illustrious of God’s creatures.  This noble portrait brings to mind the powerful, historical and magical creatures of Alexander’s Bucephalus, Napoleon’s Marengo or Gandalf’s--lord of the horses--Shadowfax.  The Horse: Beauty, power, speed, grace and most of all, intelligence.

Gabbie Dodge

My newest addition!  I adopted a retired racing greyhound!  Her racing name was Gabbie Dodge I thought that was real cute so I kept it.  Gabbie’s biological daddy was Gable Dodge, a Greyhound Hall of Fame inductee.  Since little Gabbie will be traveling with me to the festivals, I thought a more fitting title would be in order... The Lady Gabriella, Duchess of Dodgington.  To me, her adopted Daddy, she is truly a princess!

Soon to come...

Twig
The Faerie's Secret

Legendary Hidden Creations Series

Twig Oaklyn Flewinia Thistlebottom... Whew! That’s quite a name.  Fortunately her friends know her simply as Twig, the fun, whimsical, magical faerie that graces the renaissance festivals.  The young at heart, who are fortunate enough to meet her, often find themselves sprinkled with faerie dust and presented with a magical gem!   But be aware, if you ask what the secret is in her hands, she will only answer with her flute.  I hope you are fluent in double piped aulos.
Greyhound
The Ancint Breed of Nobility

Legendary Hidden Creations Series
A dynamic addition to the Hidden Creations series. Truly a breed of nobility and antiquity, the Greyhound, of eastern origins, can be traced back as far as 6000 B.C. Revered by the Egyptians, admired by the Romans and Greeks, honored and protected by aristocracy for centuries.  The grace, power and the beauty of this ancient purebred hound is right before us today to revere, admire, honor and protect.

This work was inspired by my own newly adopted, retired racer, Gabbie.  She also modeled for parts of it.  There will be more Greyhound art coming soon.

The Hidden Creations highlight some of the Greyhounds noble history.
The Queen
Her Royal Majesty
Legendary Portrait Creation series
This is another portrait inspired by the fascinating and enchanting personalities which bring the Renaissance festivals to life.  Her Royal Majesty, Lolly, is the Regnant Queen in both the Minnesota and Arizona Kingdoms.  Her charm and charisma captivate everyone she encounters.  It was quite fun capturing some of that in this portrait.

Giclee (pronounced zhee-clay)
We will soon be offering high quality giclee reproductions of all the paintings in the portrait gallery.  A giclee is a high-end fine art print recognized as "the next best thing to owning the original.”  Unique from offset or lithography, a giclee can be ordered one or two at a time.  They are, of course, less costly than purchasing the original and make a great art investment.  If you have a special favorite in my portrait gallery send me an e-mail and I will send you the details.

The word "giclée" dates back to 1989 and is a french term roughly meaning "spray or squirt" which refers to the digital printing process. During printing, millions of microscopic droplets of ink per second are applied to the print media. The best giclee printers provide 1,800 dpi resolution and blend as many as eight colors of ink.

2005 Festival Season

Arizona kicked off the new year Renaissance season with record breaking rainfalls, an unprecedented closing of the festival’s second Saturday and an extra weekend added to the run!  A great big thank you goes out to our new greyhound friends and our faithful customers for making it a rewarding festival.
Our new shoppe, #211, was certainly tested for water tightness this season.  Thank goodness we had a complete roof overhead this year.

Colorado provided perfect weather for a festival.  A few changes to the shoppe made things run nice and smooth this year.  A new counter provided a nice sleeping area for my newly adopted greyhound, Gabbie.  A new rule in 2005 kept even the noble greyhounds from walking the grounds.  So Gabbie’s exercise had to be confined to the back festival area, which she ended up loving due to all the great wildlife.  Gabbie called it “bear hunting”.

Minnesota, again, almost perfect festival weather with a few hot, humid days, but very little wind and rain.  There were numerous shoppe improvements that made things work nice and smooth and almost dust free!  It was a first time experiment doing a demonstration in the shoppe this year.  The subject was “Renaissance Drawing Techniques of the Masters.”  We even made Ink, iron gall ink, the same way Leonardo would have.  Lot’s of fun for all!

Master Artist nomination and award

It is very satisfying to receive honor and acknowledgment from one’s colleagues!  The Queens Award in 2001.  Nomination for the Artisan/ Masters Guild in 2002.  Election and award presented in 2003.  The final election and Knighting ceremony in 2004 with induction as Master Artist. This was quite a honor at this point of my career.  I feel honored and blessed to be involved with such a great group of artists, artisans and entertainers.
